Jesus Calling- Day 1 October 21st 2011

on October 21, 2011

Good Morning Friends,

I am so excited about today! I have been praying for all of you. Thank you for starting this journey with me, I hope today you see Jesus for all that HE is. Please make sure you get a “Jesus Calling” book by Sarah Young to follow along. I believe at Amazon they are only $8.

Today, is a great day to start!

Resentments! eeekkk, that word has been coming up in my life a lot lately! I just completed the 12 Step Celebrate Recovery program at my church and this (among others) is a problem for me. Something doesn’t go my way, someone offends me, or there is a disagreement….there goes the walls of resentments! In the Step Study they thought me how to work through those resentments, by letting go and giving it to God. That sounds easy, but it it’s not. When someone hurts you so bad, it is so hard to say “OK, God here you go, you can have this” and not take it back from Him, especially when I must have control and I want to fix everything! I will say, it does take practice. Every time you take the resentments back from Him, just pray and give it right back. As time as gone by it has become much easier for me to just keep those resentments, anger, control (the list goes on) at the foot of the cross where it belongs.

“Ask my Spirit to increase your awareness of resentful feelings. Bring them boldly into the Light of My Presence, so that I can free you from them”

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

Another subject Sarah Young touches on is rebellion.

“The ultimate solution to rebellious tendencies is submission to MY authority over you.” Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

How many of us deal with authority problems? Boss driving you crazy, you don’t agree with decisions that your spouse makes, your parents are telling you to do something, the President made a decision you don’t agree with, law offiicials…the list can go on…most of this authority we must deal with on a daily basis. How well do we submit? How often are we rebellious to those in authority over us?

“Remember that all good things–your possessions, your family, and friends, your health and abilities, your time–are gifts from ME. Instead of feeling entitled to all these blessings, respond to them with gratitude. Be prepared to let go of anything I take away from you, but never let go of MY HAND” Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

Jesus Calling hit it right on the head, we must submit to God’s authority because He is sovereign (power or authority) over all. He gives us all that we have. We should want to be submissive to God.

So today what are some resentments to let go of? Who can we strive to be less rebellious towards? Have you taken the time to just sit and thank God for all of HIS blessings He has poured out into your life?

Many prayers go with you all today. May you never let go of His hand!

Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

1 Peter 5:6 (NIV)

6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

Job 1:21 (NLT)

21 He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb,
and I will be naked when I leave.
The Lord gave me what I had,
and the Lord has taken it away.
Praise the name of the Lord!”
